History Test Review

From Susan Maynor, an eleventh grade U.S. History teacher at Purnell Swett High School in Pembroke, North Carolina:

"Due to the large amount of information in U.S. History and the short time period in which to teach, I am always looking for ways to review. Every once in awhile, I tell students they can bring a 3x5 index card to a test and have any information they want pertaining to the test written on it. Some really good review comes from this effort as they pick out the most important information. Cards cannot be shared during the test. So far it's worked well. The students get excited because they feel they are going to do well and they normally do. It's also a little extra help for lower achieving students."
